Echinacea

At Royal Herbs, we organically grow two varieties of Echinacea – Angustifolia and Purpurea.  The flowers are harvested in the summer while in full bloom and are then made into a maceration tincture which takes a few weeks.  In the fall, after the first frost, the roots of some of our Echinacea plants are dug up for use.  Plant roots must be at least 4 years old to have sufficient strength for the anti-microbial and immune boosting properties.  We use both the strained maceration tincture, made from the flowers, as well as roots to create one tincture, making it double strength.

We use the resulting tincture in many ways. Echinacea tincture is taken internally to ward off cold and flu and to boost the immune system.   We make an Allergy Tincture blending Stinging Nettle, Thyme and Echinacea.  Our Echinacea is also used in our Face Toner, to strengthen the skin’s immune system.  And lastly, our Toner includes our own Calendula, Echinacea, Lavender and Chamomile along with Witch Hazel, Sea Salt Brine and Floral Hydrosol.
